❤️🙏 COMMUNITY FIRE UPDATE🙏❤️
We have some good news to share this morning. The fires in some areas have been downgraded, and the family who stayed with us last night has been released to return home. ❤️
They were able to get some much-needed rest, have a good breakfast this morning, and because of the incredible generosity of our community they had everything they needed.
To everyone who showed up with food, water, clothing, bedding, toiletries, and so much more… Thank You! ❤️ You didn't hesitate. You simply saw a need and showed up. That is what community is all about, and it was beautiful to witness.
Thank you to the Incident Management Team from Northeast Washington. They are currently stationed at the school to help our fist responders. Red Cross is in the area, and the Incident Management Team is working to connect with them as needed.
Jackie is the best point of contact at the school. First responders can check in with her in the cafeteria, and she can direct them to food, water, showers, sleeping quarters, or help with anything else that is needed. First responders and the Incident Management Team are currently stationed at our High School... and at this time, everyone has what they need.
If circumstances change, please know our doors remain open.❤️ Our Elementary School will remain available for families should the need arise.
Please continue to keep everyone impacted by these fires in your thoughts. This is a scary and incredibly difficult thing for families and communities to go through, and although we are grateful things are looking better today, we know there is still work ahead.
To our first responders... Thank You! for the long hours, sacrifices, courage, and hard work you have given to protect our communities. 🚒❤️
And to our amazing community... Thank You! for reminding us once again what it means to take care of one another. When our neighbors needed us, you showed up without hesitation.

We're looking for a Long-Term Substitute Assistant Cook to join our incredible Food Services Team! This temporary position helps prepare and serve nutritious meals while creating a welcoming experience for our students every single day. The role is approximately 6 hours per day on the 180-day school calendar, with pay starting at no less than $17.13/hour (DOE).

"Family Connections" is so much more than a meeting... it's the first step in building a strong partnership between home and school. During your 30-minute appointment, your child will meet their teacher, explore their classroom, become familiar with their new learning environment, and begin the school year with confidence and excitement. This event is a Washington State requirement for all incoming TK and Kindergarten students.

🍰 Our incredible PTO has volunteered to provide plenty of delicious desserts for everyone to enjoy.
🎈 They'll also be creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere with a beautiful balloon arch and festive decorations at our main entrance to help make this day extra special!

Message from the Superintendent ❤️
As I reflect on my first year at St. John School District, I find myself filled with gratitude. When I arrived… there were many unknowns. Starting somewhere new always comes with questions, hopes, and a little uncertainty. What I found here was something truly special.
From day one, I was welcomed with kindness, support, encouragement, and genuine care. The students, staff, families, and community embraced me, and I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am for that gift. Our students continue to amaze me every single day. They are hardworking, respectful, resilient, compassionate, and proud of who they are and where they come from. They celebrate one another's successes, lift each other up during challenges, and demonstrate a level of school spirit that is simply remarkable. The friendships, character, and sense of belonging that exist here are powerful reminders of what makes small-town schools so special. What stands out most is the love our students have for their community. It is authentic. It is unwavering. It is something you simply cannot find everywhere.
To our staff… thank you. You have been by my side every step of the way. Every day, you show up with purpose and heart. You work tirelessly to ensure our students have what they need physically, emotionally, academically, and spiritually. You create opportunities, experiences, memories, and moments that help make school a place where students want to be. Your commitment to putting kids first is evident in everything you do.
To our families and community… thank you for your incredible support. The way you rally around this school, our students, and our staff is inspiring. Your belief in public education, your willingness to volunteer, encourage, attend events, and invest in our children helps make St. John the extraordinary place that it is.
This year has reminded me that schools are so much more than buildings. They are the heart of a community. They are where dreams begin, where confidence grows, where lifelong friendships are formed, and where young people discover who they are and who they can become.
St. John is a place that puts kids first.
It is a place where students are known, valued, supported, and loved.
It is a place where educators lead with their hearts.
It is a place where community still matters.
As we close another beautiful school year, I encourage all educators to continue showing up, loving what you do, and never underestimate the impact you have on the lives of children.
