Technology Vision Statement

Vision
In a society increasingly dependent on information, a vital component of education is affordable and universal access to technology, media and information resources. Students are prepared upon leaving our school system to function as lifelong learners, productive members of the workforce, and contributing citizens. Technology is an integral element of the educational process and must not be viewed as a separate curriculum, but rather as an element of all appropriate learning activities. Technology facilitates the development of thinking and communication skills and is a powerful learning tool and helps prepare students for the world of work.

Mission Statement
Our staff is committed to developing in students a sense of personal excellence through individual and civic responsibility that comes by acquiring new knowledge, respecting one another, and coping with life's challenges. We expect these values to be demonstrated by all students in quality schoolwork and attitudes that affirm the dignity of every individual.

We Believe
Informational technologies are basic tools for managing information in today's world. These tools used in conjunction with the skillful guidance of educators, parents and other community members empower students to think, solve problems, and communicate in a variety of situations and settings.

District Technology Standards Budget Summary
Maintain a hybrid computer network using Windows and Apple-based machines, and begin adding some Linux-based computers. All Windows and Apple-based computers will at least meet the state's standards requirements.
Maintain both Apple and Windows servers that meet the states' standards requirements.
All workstations will have a Microsoft Office, an internet browser, (Internet Explorer or Firefox), and a PDF reader. Individual labs will be maintained with whatever software the lab supervisor deems necessary.
Additionally, teacher's computers will have Easy Grade Pro and Schoolmaster installed.
Our goal is to reduce the number of specialized software programs, thus keeping maintenance and upgrade costs to a minimum.
All costs will be covered by the technology budget, or individual lab budgets (if applicable).
E-rate Priority One Requests
Voice, Data, Video and Other Priority One Capabilities Purchase / Budget / Potential Funding Sources
