Program Plan for Enrichment and Highly Capable Students The Cooperative Schools of St. John and Endicott offer a variety of programs and services available to students deemed highly qualified, as well as all students who benefit from enrichment activities. Any student who wishes to work beyond what is available is given the opportunity to take advantage of a wide variety of options. Staff members ranging from administration, counselors, and classroom teachers seek resources for students to expand their knowledge base. These can include offerings from local colleges and on-line classes. The desire is to see that each and every student is given what is needed to graduate. Test scores from WASL and ITBS testing will be used to determine the top two percent of the student population served by state funds. These dollars support the Junior Corps of Discovery programs and the Corps of Discovery. At St. John and Endicott Elementary Schools, Junior Corps of Discovery is offered. This is an extra-curricular academic group that must research and write a paper on a given topic. A local field trip is the reward for completing this. Additionally, various special field trips are offered throughout the school year. At Endicott-St. John Middle School, Corps is Discovery is offered. As well as researching and writing a paper and going on a local field trip, students are given the opportunity to go on a field trip that might include cities like Washington D.C. and New York. Fund raising opportunities are available to help fund this. Curricular work includes Destination Imagination and Eclectics classes, which are offered as electives for 7th and 8th grade students. Additionally, various special field trips are offered throughout the school year. At. St. John-Endicott High School, opportunities include participation in Knowledge Bowl and Envirothon, both competitive, academic, and extracurricular groups. Advanced Placement classes in English and History are offered. Extra curricular participation in organizations such as FFA and FBLA is also offered. Additionally, various special field trips are offered throughout the school year. Ongoing assessment of these programs will continue, as well as researching options such as John Hopkins Talent Search. For more information on enrichment programs and programs funded with state highly capable funds, please contact the Endicott Principal, Mrs. Schmick, or the St. John Principal Mr. Roettger. |
